that the main reason McCain lost is because his campaign typeface, Optima, blows. And not only does it regularly blow but compared to Gotham? No fuckin' chance.

Verdana v. Futura

Verdana and Futura are both sans serif typefaces. Verdana's x-height is significantly taller than futura's. The rounded parts of verdana tend to be more subtle where futura's are all based on circles. Also the peaks of a few of futura's capital letters are sharp where as verdana's are not. The dots of futura's i's are round while verdana's are square.
